Somerville Scan Scottish Parliament

Scottish Parliament

In September 2008, SomervilleSCAN won the Scottish Parliament's tender to design and make tactile objects, tactile guides and tactile maps for use by visitors to their building in Holyrood.

Using our 3D modelling and 3D printing technologies, we offered a cost-effective method of making a selection of tactile objects that meet the needs of blind and visually impaired visitors. Our integrated design process ensures that the software models are transferable between 3D printing and standard 2.5D paper printing.

We started the project in October and a website will be uploaded soon to show the work progress and to invite comments from any prospective visitors.
