Somerville Scan Technology

Prototyping is traditionally a laborious, skill intensive and expensive process taking many hours to complete. These are potential barriers to the person or organisation looking to get their new product idea to market in the quickest and most efficient time frame.

This problem can be solved with the use of 3D printers that significantly reduce the cost of prototyping and bring it into reach of the small to medium sized business, without compromising quality.

Layers of fine powder are are bonded firing an adhesive from the ink jet print-head. The shape is determined by a CAD file fed to the system from a PC. This technology is the only type that can produce full colour prints and it is also the fastest method currently available.

Somerville Scan use this technology exclusively to produce accurate models of museum pieces, prototypes and other items that would normally remain within CAD systems.
